Footpath Friends
Footpath Friends help the Countryside Management Service (CMS) maintain safe and accessible promoted routes all over Hertfordshire. Volunteers become Footpath Friends to help monitor a route. It might be that the route is of particular interest to them if the path is part of a regular walk.
Volunteers’ observations are fed back to the CMS and we in turn organise the necessary action. There are currently 30 promoted routes across Hertfordshire being monitored in this way.
When and where?
Volunteers monitor promoted routes at least twice a year. Wherever possible for convenience, volunteers are assigned routes close to their home. As a volunteer you will receive training, resources such as maps and survey forms and other ongoing support.
Already a Footpath Friend, but interested in working as part of a group to see improvements on a larger scale in your area? Why not have a look at the Parish Paths Partnership pages.
