Hertfordshire Works Board endorsed a new Economic Development Strategy for Hertfordshire at it’s meeting on the 30 June 2010.
Hertfordshire’s new economic partnership Hertfordshire Works, agreed at its inaugural meeting in March 2009 that a new economic strategy be produced for the county. A visioning workshop was held in July and the first draft of the strategy was discussed at the Hertfordshire Works Board Meeting on 1 September 2009.
The strategy is focused on a high-level economic vision and on the key objectives that emerged from the visioning workshop held in July: wider soundings were taking during September and October and the draft strategy was launched for formal consultation at the Hertfordshire Forward Conference held on the 6 November 2009. The formal consultation period lasted until the end of February.
The vision is: ‘By 2021, Hertfordshire will have a resilient and low carbon economy characterised by quality jobs, innovative and dynamic business, supported by a well skilled workforce and an entrepreneurial culture, where everyone has the opportunity to prosper and fulfill their ambitions'.
Our five key economic objectives are:-
- Creating a vibrant, low carbon economy
- Stimulating enterprise, innovation and inward investment
- Developing a well skilled workforce for the future
- Providing quality locations and infrastructure
- Creating vibrant towns, vibrant communities
